January Enderby Tournament

Broncos Windup

Result    Tie 1-2-1

A good time was had by all as the Broncos finished 6th overall in the NOHA Bantam Tournament. It's hard to believe that this team almost won the tournament. A couple bad bounces and a 1/2 point later they found themselves playing for 5th in the final game. Tough break Broncos.

Broncos vs Westside # 1

Result    Tie 5-5

The Bronco posse headed north on Sunday for an early morning game at Jim Lind in Westside. 9 of the 10 goals were scored in the first two periods as the Broncos battled in the third to tie the game 5-5. Both teams had many opportunities to put the game away, but both goalies just got better in the game as it entered the third.

Tyler Berthelsen, Cole Borba and Austin Conquergood each scored a goal and Zak Konanz scored a pair to lead the Broncos in scoring.

Game Notes: A well disciplined Bronco squad was held to only 6 minutes in penalties! Way to go herd!

Broncos vs Merritt # 1

Result    Tie 4-4

Tyler Ehlers opened the scoring for the Broncos on Saturday in an afternoon matinee at McLaren arena in Bantam House hockey action. Cole Borba, Tyler Berthelsen and Dustin Kitts also scored for the Broncos to earn the point for the tie in Super League play. Three of four goals came in the third as the Broncos scrambled late in the third to scratch out a point.

Russell Manning was in net for the Broncos!

Broncos vs P2

Result    Broncos Loss 7-6

The Broncos suffered a loss at the hands of the Penticton Cruch this past weekend 7-6. The Crunch got out to a 4-1 lead in the first period, but the Broncos never gave up. The herd scored a few goals in the second and 3 in the third to make it an interesting one.

Zak Konanz scored 4 goals to lead the Broncos along with Tyler Berthelsen with a pair. Russell Manning dominated the game in the second half to keep the Broncos in the game!

Broncos vs Westside # 2

Result    Broncos WIN 1-0

The Broncos win by default 1-0 as the Westside team was a no show! The no show was possibly due to 97 highway closure. See photos here.

Broncos vs Princeton

Result    LOSS 6-4

The Broncos lost their first game of the season on this day with a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Midget...I mean, Bantam Princeton team. The Broncos never gave up and scored 3 goals in the third to make it a close one, but Princeton was just too strong up front and pelted Manning who saw more rubber than a dead skunk on 97.

Jon Hack scored with assists from Borba & Konanz along with a goal from Tyler Berthelsen and a pair of goals from Konanz.

Coach Lebler was proud of his herd.

Game Notes: The Broncos welcome new player Bryan Kromm and Assisting Coach Rich Kromm to the Broncos. (No signing bonus was paid as the acquisition was made after the trading deadline.)

Broncos vs Merritt # 2

Result    WIN 10-3

A wild Bronco was on the loose today as the Broncos whipped Merritt 10-3. Tyler Ehlers scored a cowboy hat trick in the game scoring 3 and assisting on another as Merritt was at the mercy of the Broncos on Sunday.

Zack Konanz scored a pair, Tyler Berthelsen, Dustin Kitts, Brandon Swanson, Trevor Dermody and Jon Hack also fed off the helpless Merritt team who fell prey to the wild Broncos! Great game Bronocos!

November 1st, 2008

Broncos vs Penticton # 4

Result    WIN 5-4

The Broncos played host to another Penticton team and narrowly walked away with the victory winning 5-4. The Broncos opened the scoring early in the first period with two quick goals from Tyler Berthelsen and Brandon Swanson to take the 2-0 lead. The Penticton Red Bulls made it close with two goals in two minutes to tie the game 2-2. The Broncos then took back the lead with another goal from Berthelesen and a howitzer from the stick of Austin Conquergood on the point. 

The Red Bulls never quit and scored a pair of goals in third to tie the game 4-4 until Zack Konanz took the bull by the horns and scored a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l goal unassisted with only 1:36 remaining in the game.

Russell Manning proved he's Da Man in net with some late heroics of his own in the dying seconds.

GAME # 1   Broncos vs Merritt # 1

Result    WIN 7-5

The Penticton Bantam Broncos won back to back games in a Saturday double-header this past weekend when they traveled to Merritt to face the two Bantam House teams. AP goalie Brody St. Martin "The Terminator", was unbelievable in net for the Broncos and stopped Merritt in a comeback late in the third period.

Tyler Ehlers opened the scoring on an unassisted goal early in the first period. Ehlers would then get ejected from the game on a "phantom" hit-from-behind that forced Ehlers out of the game. Zakary Konanz lead the Broncos with a hat trick and along with goals from Cole Borba and a beauty end to end rush by Steven Lebler. Trevor Dermody, Philip Bradley, Jon Hack & Joseph Veltri each had an assist in the victory.

GAME # 2   Broncos vs Marrit # 2

GAME Notes: Coach Lebler issued the  "Player of the Game" award to Tayler Schwabe! For those who don't already know, the MVP or player of the game is given a Bronco who has demonstrated outstanding play during a game! A Cowboy hat is given to wear to and from the arena until the next game!

Result    WIN 13-4

Game two was an offensive explosion for the Broncos as both Brandon Swanson and Tyler Ehlers each had four goals as the Broncos pounded the Merritt Centennials 13-4. Other goal scorers were Jon Hack with 2 and Tyler Berthelsen, Zak Konanz and Cole Borba with solo markers. Assists were credited Tayler Schwabe &  Josesph Veltri among others.

GAME    Broncos vs Summerland Jets

Result    WIN 6-2

The Broncos came out flying with Zack Konanz scoring 4 goals in the first period. Steven Lebler chipped in with 2 assists and Jon Hack had a goal and and assist. Tyler Ehlers had a goal and Trevor Dermody with an assist. 

AP Goalie Darien Folk was outstanding in net. After facing only 3 shots in the first period, Folk was pelted with 25 more shots over the next two periods allowing only 2 goals in the second period.

BRONCOS next game includes a double header next weekend. Strap on the winter hoofs, we're going to Merritt!

GAME    Broncos vs Penticton Crunch

Result    TIE 9-9

The Penticton Broncos opened the 08-09 Season with an exciting come from behind 9-9 tie with the Penticton Crunch. The Broncos did jump out to a 6-1 lead before the Crunch made the come back of their own. Zack Konanz and Brandon Swanson each had 2 goals to lead the Broncos in goals. With only 2:54 remaining on the clock, Steven Lebler scored the tying goal on a beautiful assist from Dustin Kitts and Zack Konanz. Russell Manning was solid in net during the remaining 2 minutes to preserve the tie.

GAME Notes: Coach Lebler was pleased with the game and said the Broncos never gave up and kept a positive attitude on the bench even when down 8-6 late in the thrid.
