"As seen by Coach Kelly Spence"

To the Herd,

Well first I must say that you guys really came together and battled as a team on the weekend. I thought that the teams we played had more of the older skilled players than us but you guys bought into the "team" system, fought hard and we got better every game. We had some very close, low scoring one goal games. We ended up with a goals against average of 3, which says allot about our team defensive play. The coaches and parents were proud of you guys for coming together as a team and playing with passion and big hearts.

I hope you all had a good time.

The one image that stands out in my mind is Duncan with fists flailing being held back by his big brother Cam with a bear hug. This happened when Duncan went bazerko after being checked into the boards by that huge hulking player on the other team.

Being Duncan's brother, Cam has experienced the total carnage that Duncan can inflict and realized he had to take action. So not one nanosecond too soon Cameron grabbed Duncan from behind and by holding him with the strength of ten men, immobilizing the flailing Mike Tyson. A moment later and we would of needed to use there fathers emergency dental care to stop the bleeding and save the life of this behemoth of a player from the other team.

After Duncan got back to the bench he wanted know who's room they were setting up the video games in back at the hotel.

Andrew Furness, Chad Parenteau, Alex Hack and Cam McIntosh each scored for the Moose.

Game Note: Game MVP went to AP-Brayden Hearne for his contribution of 2 goals for the Moose.

Game Moose vs South Ok # 2

WIN 6-5

The Penticton Midget Moose win their first ever game at the Shrine otherwise known as the South Okanagan Event Centre. The Moose jumped out to a great start scoring 4 goals in the first period. The Warriors however, never gave up and scored 5 of their own to make it a close one!

Brendan Frizzi lead the Moose in scoring with 2 goals and assisted on two other including the game winner. Corey Farebrother, Julian Anton and Alex Hack also scored for the Moose. The highlight of the night, however was the eventual game winner that was a howitzer from the stick of Luke Spence on the point who scored with a devastating slap shot that nearly torn the twin behind the South Ok goaltender.

Game Moose vs Westside

LOSS 7-2

The Moose have lost back to back games vs Westside in the home openers of the Super League 2008-09 campaign. The Moose started slow but pick up speed and found their "Moose Legs" midway through the second period. Chad Parenteau score a pair of goals five minutes apart, midway through the second to lead the Moose on the offence.

Duncan McIntosh and Will Patterson each earned an assist on the Parenteau goals.

GAME Notes: The Moose played a much better disciplined game and Coach Spence was pleased on how the Moose stayed out of the box. "I think if we could take back that first period, we could have won that game. We outplayed them in the second and third period! I think we're coming around."

Game Moose vs Westside

LOSS 8-1

The Moose lost their first game of the season in a game against Westside.

Corey Farebrother scored the only goal for the Moose unassisted in the second period. Nick Wyatt played outstanding in net for Moose and did well to hold the Warriors to 8.

Once again undisciplined play appears to be the demise of the Moose, however Coach Spence feels confident his herd will bring a more controlled game next time.

Exhibition GAME McLaren vs Penticton Red Bulls

WIN
7-4

Julian Anton lead the way with a pair of goals as the Penticton Midget Moose opened their regular season with a 7-4 victory over the Penticton Red Bulls. Alex Hack and Chad Parenteau each had two points with a goal and an assist in the win. The game also featured a highlight reel goal by Dylan Bryce who split the defense on an aggressive drive to roof one past the Red Bull netminder. Nic Wyatt was outstanding in net and made some brilliant saves late in third to preserve the Moose win!

GAME NOTES: Coach Spence, although happy with the victory did feel his team was undisciplined and took 8 penalties en route to victory. "We have 3 very strong house teams in Penticton this year and it's not very often a team will win a game giving up 8 power play opportunities. It's just something we'll have to work on! All-in-all it was a good start to the season!"
